A little stuck on early american lit paper?

We have to do a research paper on anything pertaining to Early American Literature, and I know I want to write about Emerson. I can write about transcendentalism, nature, etc. but I'm having a little difficulty coming up with a solid question to base my paper on. Should I write about the difference between Emerson's view on nature vs the Puritan view on nature? I'm just really confused and feel all over the place being unable to create a question for myself. Any suggestions/guidelines please?
