I was digging in my back yard and found an old pocket watch. Was it created by a random explosion?

Last I heard of William Paley's watch, it was on a fencepost, and it was incapable of self replication even then. That watch has been getting around since about 1840 or so and it must be close to worn out by now. The questions about it certainly have been worn out, since they were first answered about 1840 as well.
