Should I keep off of my deck during the day if there are skunks living under it?

We have discovered a skunk's nest under our deck. We have planned a barbecue for today however! It does not seem as though the skunks are there now, but they may be sleeping since they are nocturnal. Should we still hold the barbecue? If the skunks are sleeping, would they come out from under the deck? Help!!!
